Making Nutrition Information Accessible

Making Nutrition Information Accessible

At McDonald's® Canada, we believe that making nutrition information accessible, comprehensive and easy-to-understand gives customers the opportunity to make menu choices that can help maintain balanced, active lifestyles.

We were the first quick-service restaurant to provide nutrition information more than 30 years ago, with our Food Facts brochure in the 1970s. Today, when it comes to knowing exactly what they're eating at a McDonald's restaurant, customers have more options than ever.

It has been our longstanding practice to provide you with relevant nutrition information so you can make informed food choices.  We continue to develop new ways to provide this information in ways that are most useful for you.

Here are some of the ways you can easily access comprehensive nutrition information.

Nutrition Calculator
McDonald's offers an online Nutrition Calculator on mcdonalds.ca. This user-friendly tool allows you not only to view the nutrition profile for your favourite menu items, the calculator will provide nutrition information specific to your food choices.

It's a great way to make informed decisions, even before leaving the house.

Product Packaging

Another industry first - many McDonald’s products include a Nutrition Facts panel like the ones you see on packaged goods at the grocery store, plus a new McDonald's Nutrition Chart that takes five key nutrients (calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates, and sodium) and graphically presents them as a Daily Value percentage based on a 2,000 calorie diet.

Nutrition Poster

Customers can consult an in-restaurant nutrition information poster before placing their order.

Tray liner

Double-sided tray liners also include comprehensive nutrition information for all McDonald's permanent menu items.

Nutrition Calculator App

McDonald's Canada has developed a one-of-a-kind nutrition calculating application, available free from iTunes. This app expands the accessibility of nutrition information to a new platform, one that makes it easier than ever for people to check nutrient values and customize their order before they make a purchase. The app works both online and offline and is the first of its kind in the Canadian QSR industry.
