What is McDonald’s relationship to Ronald McDonald House Charities® Canada?

McDonald’s® Canada is the founding and largest sustaining partner to Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada. Since opening the first Canadian Ronald McDonald House in 1981, McDonald’s Canada and founder, George Cohon, have held a committed and caring vision of the role Ronald McDonald Houses could play in helping sick children and their families.

By creating Ronald McDonald House Charities® Canada in 1982, McDonald’s ensured that Canada’s first House in Toronto, along with all future Houses, would have a lasting foundation of support. McDonald’s commitment covers all the administrative and operating costs for Ronald McDonald House Charities® Canada, the foundation that supports the Ronald McDonald Houses across the country. Because of this, 100% of every dollar donated by individual and corporate donors goes directly to Ronald McDonald Houses and their programs.

McDonald’s is proud of the incredible impact and support the Ronald McDonald Houses have on health care and healing in this country. And they remain committed to the founding vision of Ronald McDonald Houses as community houses, where McDonald’s, along with individual donorscorporate donors and community groups all work together to ensure families with seriously ill children have place to stay and the support they need.

10 cents from the sale of every Happy Meal is donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada, which creates a sustainable revenue source for Ronald McDonald Houses and their programs.

Happy Meals

How can I get a Happy Meal® toy that I missed?

Happy Meal toys and other McDonald's premiums are distributed directly to our restaurants for in-store promotions. Toys and premiums are not available through the McDonald's corporate offices. You may want to contact the following collector's club:

How do you train your restaurant employees?

At McDonald's, training never stops. Crew members are trained extensively on all food safety and food handling processes. Our trainees work with crew trainers while they learn the operational skills necessary for running each of the positions in our restaurant - from the front counter to the grill.

We believe in promoting growth. All managers and owner-operators receive business management and restaurant operations training at one of McDonald's premier, state-of-the-art training facilities: Hamburger University or the Canadian Institute of Hamburgerology.


How accessible are your restaurants for persons with disabilities?

At McDonald’s Canada we are committed to excellence in serving all customers including people with disabilities who require assistance. All of our crew and managers who deal with the public receive training, including information on how to serve persons with disabilities. A copy of our policy is available upon request.
